Monkey Shoulder from Speyside is a versatile blended malt whisky that showcases a wide array of flavors. It presents fruity and floral sweetness with a spicy kick, hints of leathery notes, tobacco, Sherry, vanilla, dark chocolate, yeasty undertones, and a subtle oak influence. There are also prominent heather, honey, white fruit, and caramel notes. The whisky is aged in various cask types including ex-bourbon, Oak, Sherry, Marian, and Bourbon, offering a complex yet well-balanced profile. While each expression provides a unique tasting experience, Monkey Shoulder remains consistent in delivering quality and value, making it suitable for both cocktails and sipping neat.
THE WHISKY ENTHUSIAST
Wow peach, initial hit of peach, orange, lemon, freshly squeezed orange juice, floral, herbal, very herbaceous, fresh cut grass, wet soil, malty, very malty. It's a good experiment, it's a nice way to get to know your whiskies. It's a great way to find what blended malts are or could be like.
Whisky.com
Very fruity, floral, sweet with a spiciness. Not too expensive and very intense, suited for whiskey cocktails.
Stuff & Whiskey
There's like hops, a hops nose, and yeastiness. It's almost like a lager beer. For 30 bucks, it's fantastic value.
The Single Malt Review
That's a lot of heather and a lot of honey. That's real juicy. It's not cheap cheap but it's well-priced. It's a pure malt so there's that.
Whiskey Vault
It's black pepper corn steak smoke, peppery without being harsh, charred without being ashy and dry.
Whiskey Vault
Tasting notes suck. Caramel, vanilla, and cloves which you could apply to any whiskey ever. It's actually in the 30-ish dollar range, super value.

I think compared against the Smoky blends you've had, this one should hold its head up high.
